The Golden Bean
Costa Rican coffees are known as The Golden Bean because of the prosperity
they have brought to the country. Over the past century, coffee has transformed
Costa Rica from a quiet colonial territory into a prosperous and cosmopolitan nation.
The Tarrazú region, close to Poás Volcano, offers ideal conditions for producing
some of the world’s finest coffees: high elevations, mineral-rich volcanic soils,
and a mountain climate that results in a clean, smooth and beautifully balanced cup.
Grown above 1,200 metres, this coffee earns the prestigious SHB (Strictly Hard Bean)
classification, the highest quality grade in Costa Rica.
